No Wrinkles Allowed!

I’m currently in Costa Rica.

I didn’t get a chance to see the volcano/rainforest due to excessive wind conditions. Bummer!  The Rangers were worried tourists may fall into the volcano. No bueno! 😬

I am definitely not a homebody, so I haggled with a local to drive me across the country where I found a beach to go surfing.

Surfing was fun and the waves were amazing but, just as I was getting the hang of it, I felt the power of nature toss me around like a rag doll. Wave after wave, I couldn’t get situated.

Then, I looked up and a gigantic wave was approaching me. At that point, trying to ride it was out of the question…I just wanted to survive. My ego was humbled as I couldn’t compete with this force.

But then…,my fear turned to reverence and peace. As the great poet, Nas, once said. “Your arms too short to box with God.” 🥊

Looking good while traveling is important, but wrinkles can mess up the best selfie. Here are ways to keep you looking good when you’re traveling and taking those photos.

Examples of Wrinkle-Free Fabrics

  • Polyester and Nylon may have a bad rep, but at least they don’t wrinkle easily! Some fabrics have mixed blends of polyester or nylon so you can have a wrinkle-free outfit while still looking chic.

  • If you hate synthetic fabrics, go with wool. Wool is great at insulating, keeping you cool, and it dries quickly. AND… it’s wrinkle-free!. Don’t forget to read the cleaning instructions!

  • The busy traveler approves of denim as well. No wrinkles!

Avoid These Fabrics!!

  • Linen and seersucker

  • 100% cotton fabrics, which include T-Shirts. Save those for the gym! Travel in style bruh.

Avoid linen like the plague

Methods for a Wrinkle-Free Wardrobe

  • Wear the clothes! - Some clothing just doesn’t pack well,... like my blazers for example. So I just wear them to the airport and that’s a cool way to look classy while traveling.

  • Use packing cubes/garment bags - Having a separate container does wonders for keeping wrinkles out of clothes. It also makes packing/unpacking much easier.

  • Roll them - This is a trick that I learned from my military buddies. Roll your clothes and fasten them together inward out or with a rubber band. Not only are wrinkles removed, but it's easier to navigate through your luggage.

How to Fight Wrinkles !

  • Steam Them Out - Don’t forget that I’m team carry-on so I don’t have the space to bring a steamer. How do I do it? I hang the clothes up in the bathroom while I take a hot shower.

  • Iron Them Out - Many accommodations have an iron and ironing board on site. Be careful with the irons though, they may damage your clothes. Choose the right temperature setting for your fabric and check to make sure the iron is clean. I lost a good shirt this way!

  • Spray Them Out - Y'all know that I swear by Febreze wrinkle remover. You need this in your life! I have 5 bottles at home and bring them on all of my trips.
