I often see people make mistakes when traveling and it hurts my soul.
And when my soul gets hurt, a kitten dies.☠️
Who wants kittens to die?...
No one!
So please, do it for the kittens:
Summer Travel: Traveling during the summer can be quite expensive, especially overseas. This is because everyone else is also traveling. Personally, I cringe when I see people traveling during the summer. If you're a keen observer, you'll notice that my summer trips are much smaller. Instead of summer travel, consider going on a trip in the fall. It will likely be less expensive and you won’t have to deal with crowds.
Keeping all your money in one place can be risky. It's important to consider potential problems and have a plan in case something goes wrong. For instance, if you lose your money or get robbed, it's smart to keep your money in multiple locations so that you're not left stranded.
Overpacking: Overpacking can make traveling more burdensome. By packing lightly, you can move around more quickly. Consider investing in new, optimal packing methods such as packing cubes or vacuum storage bags. Alternatively, simply bring fewer items with you. If you want to know more about the detriments of overpacking, read this guide. Link
Too scared to travel: I often hear stories of people who are too afraid to travel due to perceived danger. While America certainly has its dangers, I see the same people walking around Baltimore or Philly at night, yet they feel scared to walk around another country during the day.
Paying with cash: When it comes to making payments during travel, it's always best to prioritize using a credit card over cash. Not only can using a credit card be more convenient, but it also provides you with additional protection and benefits. For instance, if anything goes wrong with your purchase, you can always rely on your credit card company's legal team to help you out. Using a credit card also helps you avoid carrying around large amounts of cash, which can be risky. Another advantage of using a credit card for travel expenses is that it can help you earn rewards points or cash back on your purchases.
BONUS: Paying foreign transaction fees can be a surprise for some credit card users. Some cards charge fees when paying in a different currency, but there are many cards available that don't have foreign transaction fees. By choosing a card without these fees, you can avoid being charged extra $$ on top of every purchase.
