Travel Without Using PTO

I'm flying back from Nashville tonight and if you've been following my stories on Instagram, you'll see how crazy it was. I need a break!

I only have limited PTO (Paid Time Off) time, so how can I travel so much? Remote work definitely helps, but I have a couple of tricks that I use to make the most out of my PTO time. You can use these tricks too!

Let's dive in.

Take a Red Eye: Flying at night or early in the morning is great if you can stay awake. I also like that there are fewer crowds to deal with. And you guys know how much I hate crowds. Don't fly during the day when you could be getting paid.🤑

Fly on the Weekends: Flying on the weekends is convenient because no one wants to do it, so you can usually find good deals. If you're a remote worker like me, you don't have to waste any PTO days because you can work during the week.

Work Remotely: Many companies are 100% remote after the pandemic, so don't stay at home and suffer from cabin fever. Go out and see the world! Literally get paid while on vacation. Traveling while working also allows me to slow down and get a sample of what it's like living in a location day to day. And who knows?...If I end up really liking an area, I may end up living there.🤷🏽‍♂️

Plan Trips Around Holidays: Plan larger trips around days that you already have off. Adding an extra PTO day to an existing holiday, plus a weekend, can easily turn into a 4-day holiday. BUT be careful… planning trips around holidays can be expensive.
