Get a Good Start on 2022
Happy New Year! Traveling can get complicated, so here’s a checklist to make traveling smoother in 2022.
Go to the doctor: Get a checkup and any necessary vaccines/boosters. It’s hard to enjoy a vacation if your health is suffering.
Apply for visas: Planning to travel to any specific countries this year? Check to see if those countries require a visa. Applying for a visa takes time, so apply ASAP.
Renew passport or driver’s license: The lead time for a new passport is +12 weeks. 😢 Even if a passport is still valid during the trip, some countries won’t allow entry if the passport is expiring soon.
Get traveler’s insurance: If you’re seriously sick in a developing country, would you perform to use their facilities or the ones back home? I’m from Philly, so I prefer the former, but everyone is different. Unfortunate events happen when traveling, and you don’t want to be untreated or left with a hefty medical bill. Especially now with COVID, travel insurance can pay for quarantine expenses. I’m going to do a post on travel insurance soon.
Check credit cards: Check to see if any credit cards expire soon. In addition, check for any policy changes because many companies have rolled back the benefits they provided during the lockdown.
Now that we’re in the new year, any places or topics you would like me to cover?
