Don't Get Robbed When Traveling Overseas

There are many fun things about traveling overseas but getting robbed is not one of them. Below are quick tips to prevent that unfortunate situation.

Don't look like an American
Americans are easy to spot a mile away. Don't wear those ugly Adidas shoes, cheesy T-shirts, tube socks, and cargo pants. Get your priorities in order…You have to look nice for selfies! Not looking like an American also makes it harder for pickpockets to identify you.

 Pointing is rude

The quickest way to identify a tourist is to see who's pointing. Don't do this. Instead, point with your chin or use words. It feels awkward at first, but then it becomes natural.

 Are you lost?

Limit head movement when looking around and use your eyes instead. Only look both ways when crossing the street.

Pay attention to any unusual behavior

What are other people doing in your vicinity? Did someone suddenly change their pace? Is someone loitering in the town square for no apparent reason? Pay attention to these little things, and eventually, it'll become second nature.

Don't show large sums of cash in public
This sounds obvious, but I see it happen CONSTANTLY! Be discreet. Only pickpockets care how much money you have.

At the end of the day, you can't wholly blend in because you're a foreigner in a foreign land. But you can at least make yourself look like a more challenging target than the tourist next to you. 😉
