5 Things to Do in Austin
Getting Ready to Binge: Austin is one of the best food places I've been to in the United States. At the end of any trip, I usually get tired of an area, but I got tired of eating in Austin! Try eating at food trucks because they are typically grouped together in a caravan, which allows you to sample many dishes at once.🤤🤤🤤
Some general recommendations: Valentina's Food Truck, Boteco, Terry Black's BBQ
Visit a Speakeasy: Stay vigilant when visiting Austin because there are speakeasies hidden everywhere: parking garages, computer repair shops, abandoned buildings, etc. Please note: These speakeasies are strict, so follow their specific instructions to get in.
My favorite speakeasies:
Here Nor There (Reservation required, Must download the app)
Garage Cocktail Bar (Reservation required)
Floppy Disk Repair Co. (Reservation required, but I got in with my charm 😉😉😉)
Dance Like a Cowboy: Cowboys can dance, and they can probably out-dance you too bruh. Learn the Texan "Two-step" before visiting. To see the cowboys in action, go to the Broken Spoke or The White Horse.
Go Boating on Lady Bird Lake: There are many things to do around Lady Bird Lake (hiking, swimming in Barton Springs, Picnic in Zilker Park), but I had the most fun kayaking.
Please make sure you know how to boat before venturing out on the water, or you'll end up like these people. Don't worry, they all made it back in one piece; I have pictures to prove it.
Go to Esther's Follies: I was skeptical when I heard this show had comedy, singing, political satire, and magic, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a highlight of my trip, and the ticket prices were affordable.
Gen Z translation: This place is hella lit hi-key no cap.
