There wasn't a super bowl game last night, and I didn't stay up too late…
Happy Valentine's Day! I feel it's fitting to focus on food for this week's issue. So, for that topic, I'm going to focus on my favorite spots to eat in Providence, Rhode Island:
Why Providence is for foodies:
- Home to Johnson and Wales University, one of the top culinary schools in the country
- Close to the sea - Access to fresh aquatic life
- Unique cultural influences - Portugal, Cape Verde, etc.
Favorite Restaurants
- Los Andes - Peruvian/Bolivian restaurant with great food, service, and ambiance.
- Al Forno - Classy Italian restaurant that claims to have invented grilled pizza
- Andino's - Elegant Italian restaurant with a 50's flare
Favorite Sweets
- Aleppo Sweets - Delicious Syrian bakery. Get the baklava.
- Newport Creamery - Popular Rhode Island ice cream chain. Famous for the "Awful Awful" milkshake.
- PVDonuts or Kneads Donuts - Popular doughnut shops. Each local has their personal favorite, so go to both and decide for yourself.
Favorite Bars
- Courtland Club - Extremely low-key but my favorite bar in PVD 🙌. A unique spin on classic cocktails, skilled DJ's, and knowledgeable staff.
- Ogie's Trailer Park - Retro mid-century bar. Great drink choices and affordable cocktails.
- Troop - Hip-Hop bar with impromptu dance battles. You will "Get Served," so just watch on the sidelines.
