Have you considered using AI for your trip planning?
AI can quickly help you choose a destination, provide helpful information about local customs, and even build out an entire itinerary for you! I've incorporated AI into my trip planning, and it's saved me loads of time.
In this article, I'll show you how to use it to enhance your travel plans.
First off, AI is incredibly powerful—the limit is literally your imagination. You can ask questions like "Plan a seven-day itinerary in Denmark," and it'll give you a bunch of things to do every single day.
It's not Google
One key thing to remember: don't treat AI like a Google search. The more information you give AI, the better it performs. Share your preferences and interests. For instance, if you're a foodie, you might say something like, "I'm looking for nice restaurants in Guatemala. I'm a foodie that loves Italian food."
Give examples
If there are specific examples that you can give AI, add those in the prompt and you'll get better responses. If you find a restaurant you like, you can ask AI, "Find more restaurants like X," and it'll pull up similar restaurants for you.
Don't stop with the first question
Once you get an answer, the conversation doesn't stop there. You can ask follow-up questions. For example, if it gives you a list of restaurants you don't vibe with, you can say, "Give me more," and it will provide additional options.

Unlike me, AI isn't perfect, so there are a couple of things to look out for:
Out-of-date information
The information you receive may be out-of-date. I've encountered situations where recommended restaurants have been closed.
Just a substitute
Also, this doesn't substitute for thorough trip research. It's more of an accelerator to make planning less burdensome. You may still need to do some work to find those hidden gems. I would trust a list from a trusted friend over AI any day.
Not Reliable for Visa and Travel Restrictions
Avoid using AI for information on travel restrictions or visa requirements, as these can change rapidly. Instead, consult your country's official government website for the most up-to-date and accurate information. (e.g. USA - U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories)
