Cocktail of the Week
The Pisco Punch was invented in the United States, specifically in San Francisco during the late 1800s at the Bank Exchange Saloon. It was made famous by bartender Duncan Nicol, and quickly became a favorite among gold rush-era adventurers and literary figures, praised for its surprising strength masked by a fruity flavor.
Recipe:
2 oz (60 ml) pisco
1 oz (30 ml) pineapple gum syrup (or pineapple juice + simple syrup)
0.75 oz (22 ml) lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
Ice cubes
Optional: pineapple chunks or lemon wheel for garnish
Instructions:
Fill a shaker with ice.
Add pisco, pineapple syrup, and lemon juice.
Shake well until chilled.
Strain into a chilled coupe or rocks glass.
Garnish with a pineapple chunk or lemon wheel.
