I was in New Orleans over the weekend. It was a short trip, just for relaxation, but this place holds special meaning for me.

It's the official first trip when I started The Busy Traveler.

I laugh when I think about the past!

I had no idea what I was getting into. If I had known how much work travel blogging was going to be, there's no way that I would have gotten started.

But I'm so grateful that I did, and I have no regrets.

Let's dive into this week's topic.

I love booking cheap flights. It's always a great feeling to get something for less.

However, sometimes there's a reason why those flights are so inexpensive, and if you're not careful, it could ruin your trip.

You might think you've grabbed a deal, only to find yourself with nothing to do in your hotel or Airbnb because everything is closed.

This has happened to me, and I paid for it. I want to make sure this doesn't happen to you.

Whenever I find a flight that appears too good to be true, I verify whether the destination country has a holiday.

For example, Easter is celebrated differently in countries that follow the Orthodox calendar. Additionally, each country has its own national day, similar to our Independence Day.

Don't get me wrong, some holidays are enjoyable due to their elaborate celebrations. However, there are times when all stores, restaurants, and activities are closed.

If you're a fan of travel deals, like me, you'll naturally encounter more holidays scenarios than the average traveler.

Before booking your next flight, remember to do a quick Google search on the country's holidays.
